Laser welding is designed for welding homogeneous and dissimilar metals, butt welding of metal sheets of sufficiently large thickness in one pass, welding in hard-to-reach places and different spatial positions.
As opposed to traditional methods, laser welding has the following advantages due to the concentration of high power density in the laser beam:
- High process productivity, characteristic welding speeds can reach 200-400 m / h, and when using laser arc technology (hybrid) technology – up to 2000 m / h;
- The possibility of welding dissimilar metals. The ability to weld butt-off metal sheets of a sufficiently large thickness in one pass. The small width of the zone of thermal influence and the low level of deformation are approximately 3-5 times lower than in arc welding;
- The possibility of welding in hard-to-reach places and different spatial positions. Good controllability and flexibility of the process, the possibility of full automation.
